Air Fryer Apple Pie Taquitos: The Ultimate Crispy Dessert with Cinnamon-Sugar Excellence

A crispy, cinnamon-dusted treat that balances a warm, gooey apple center with a crunchy exterior. Flour tortillas are filled with spiced apple pie filling, rolled tight, brushed with butter, and coated in a classic cinnamon-sugar mix. The air fryer ensures a golden, fried texture with significantly less oil than traditional methods.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 6 taquitos
Course: Desserts

Ingredients

  • Filling: 1 can 21 oz apple pie filling
  •
  • Wrap: 6 medium soft flour tortillas
  • Coating: 4 tbsp butter melted, ½ cup sugar, 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  •

Method

  1. Fill: Lay tortillas flat. Spoon approx. 2 tbsp of apple pie filling in a line across the center of each.
  2. Roll: Roll the tortillas tightly to enclose the filling.
  3. Coat: Brush the outside of each roll generously with melted butter. In a shallow dish, whisk the sugar and cinnamon together, then roll each taquito in the mixture until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange: Place taquitos in the air fryer basket seam-side down to prevent them from unrolling. Do not stack them; cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Air Fry: Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes until golden.
  6.
  7. Flip: Carefully flip the taquitos and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes until perfectly crispy all the way around.
  8. Serve: Enjoy warm. These are incredible paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Notes

  • Seam Side Down: This is the most important step! Placing them seam-side down "locks" the tortilla in place so you don't need toothpicks.
  • Filling Tip: If the apple chunks in your filling are very large, give them a quick chop before filling the tortillas to make rolling easier.
  • Tortilla Choice: Use flour tortillas rather than corn for this recipe; flour gets a much better "pastry-like" crunch when air fried with butter and sugar.
